Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring
Does my child need their Cholesterol checked?
Cholesterol problems or Heart Disease start in childhood.
Cholesterol disease begins in childhood. It can be effected by both your genes and your diet. Through early identification of children at risk we can potentially prevent heat disease as adults.
It is currently recommended that every child should have their Primary Care Provider check their cholesterol between 9 - 11 years old. The good news is your child doesn't have to be fasting for the test, so it can be done right after your regular check-up.
Keep in mind that not every child with high cholesterol will need medication. Some people can be managed with diet and exercise alone.
