Ashok V. Mehta, MD, FACC

Dr. Ashok Mehta is a nationally known senior Pediatric Cardiologist in the Tri-City area. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. He received his Pediatric Cardiology training at the University of Miami in 1981. He has also spent a year of special research in electrical problems of the children’s heart. He has published 80 articles and given over 100 presentations in various national and international journals and meetings.

Dr. Mehta specializes in invasive and non-invasive pediatric cardiology. For the last 25 years, he has performed Balloon Angioplasty and Vavlvuloplasty in children and young adults. He is an internationally recognized expert in the management of children with heart rhythm problems (palpitation, irregular rhythm), syncope, tachycardia and heart defects. He is also an expert in echocardiography in fetus to young adults. Other interests include management of blood pressure, cholesterol, fainting, athletes with heart problems and chest pain, etc.

In addition to his busy medical practice, he is very active in the community. He was the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center in 2002-2003, board member of the American Heart Association, Girls Inc. of Kingsport, and RIACC Hall of Worship and community center. His research work, community lectures, and volunteer services; will not keep him from traveling around the world with his family whenever he has a chance. Golf is his favorite sport. Physical fitness has become one of his favorite activities.
